Moving to Largo -what should I know?

Been meaning to ask this. I grew up here but left for a while. Rent is about $1,482/month for a decent place. With a population of 82,506, Largo is a smaller city. Homes are going for about $208,500 on average. Crime rate is something to consider -Largo sits at 383.7 per 100K. The city has invested a lot in new development. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. What are your go-to spots? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The city has invested a lot in new development. The food scene here is surprisingly good. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The suburbs are where most families end up. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a project manager who relocated here from Tampa about 4 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Decent public transit for the size
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Road conditions need improvement

Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are established, gas is pretty good.

Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.

I've been here 15 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the healthcare is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is pretty good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The South side vs the Old Town side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Definitely worth checking out..

As someone who grew up here, the quality of life is solid. A lot has changed in the past few years though. nightlife used to be much stable but now it's tough.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value school system, you'll love it. The walkability is genuinely tough and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (Sunset) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Tampa, be prepared for the culture shock. outdoor recreation is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
