Relocating to Largo, FL -pros and cons?

Not sure if this has been asked before, but Poverty rate is 8.0%, which is pretty low. The median home value here is around $208,500, which is actually reasonable. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. What would you do? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The weather takes some getting used to. Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value pet-friendliness, you'll love it. The job market is genuinely tough and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (Riverside) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Minneapolis, be prepared for the culture shock. community vibe is completely different here. And Can feel isolated.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

The food scene here is tough. Tons of great Asian places. it's exactly what I was looking for.

I've lived in Old Town for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Miami, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- The housing market scene is decent

The downsides:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for singles. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

If you value cultural scene, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely average and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. My neighborhood (Oak Park) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Portland, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's been a really good experience overall. Hope this helps!.
