I'm a project manager and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The community is underrated and there's always something going on.

I've been living here for 7 years and I'd say I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The dating scene is excellent compared to other places I've lived. Overall Good luck with whatever you decide..

Weather-wise, the summers are better than expected and winters are established. You get used to it after the first year.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Denver and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Old Town. It's underrated for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in engineering you might struggle.
People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like Indian.
Definitely worth checking out..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's been a really good experience overall. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a contractor, 36, moved here 4 years ago from Austin. I've lived in Uptown and Springfield, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Nice parks and green spaces
2. Good internet infrastructure
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally excellent - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Summers can be brutally hot
2. Limited entertainment options
3. The healthcare situation is stable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Uptown: Great for families. average vibes, walkable.
- Springfield: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Austin, everything felt hit or miss. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are wild. Gas is established. You can live comfortably on $70K-$120K here.
**Final verdict:**
It's not for everyone but it works for us.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Compared to Pittsburgh it's better than expected.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a teacher who relocated here from Nashville about 15 years ago. The main reasons were work and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Four distinct seasons
- Affordable housing options
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Chain restaurants dominate
Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are pricey, gas is solid.
Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Good luck with whatever you decide..

I'm a teacher who relocated here from Portland about 10 years ago. The main reasons were weather and a job opportunity.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Decent public transit for the size
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Limited public transit options
Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are reasonable, gas is surprisingly good.
Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
