Things Las Cruces needs to improve

First post here. I'm a teacher here and Household incomes average around $55,176 in Las Cruces. The median home value here is around $217,400, which is actually reasonable. Homes are going for about $217,400 on average. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The weather takes some getting used to.

Pros:
- Good job market
- Nice parks and trails
- Good schools
- Active local events

Cons:
- Lack of diversity
- Boring for young people
- Limited cultural events
I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The weather takes some getting used to. The suburbs are where most families end up. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The city has invested a lot in new development. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. it's been a really good experience overall. Compared to Raleigh it's decent.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.

I've been here 6 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is job market. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is excellent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Eastside side vs the West side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
