Anyone else feel this way? I'm single, late 30s, and Poverty rate is 5.4%, which is pretty low. It's a a small town city with about 6,007 people. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Looking forward to hearing from you all. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The city has invested a lot in new development. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Denver and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Springfield. It's improving for what you get.

Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in retail. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.

People: Generally underrated. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like Mexican.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Public transit is tough here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's improved dramatically in recent years.
