Anyone else feel this way? Military spouse here. It's a a small town city with about 13,120 people. Median household income is $42,732, which feels on the lower side for the area. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Would love some local perspective. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value cultural scene, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely average and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (Greenfield) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Austin, be prepared for the culture shock. weather is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

The food scene here is underrated. Tons of great Korean places. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.
