Cost of living is significantly more compared to where I came from.
I'm paying /mo for a 3-bed in Downtown and honestly feels like a steal. I saw that rent in Downtown is now /mo which is expected.
What I like:
- Strong local businesses
- Lots of new restaurants opening
- Safe neighborhoods
- Strong arts and culture scene
What I don't:
- Traffic is getting worse
- Summers are brutal
- Nightlife is lacking
- Homelessness visible downtown
The food scene in Downtown is honestly incredible. The community in Downtown is really tight-knit.
Thanks in advance for any insight.

Alright, I'm going to write the reply I wish someone had written for me when I was researching Las Vegas.
Background: 32, empty nester, moved from Dallas 9 years ago for my partner's job. Currently in Spring Valley.
**Housing:**
The market is excellent right now. We went with Spring Valley because the price was right. Paid /mo starting out, now at /mo. If I could do it again, I'd look at Summerlin - it's affordable and the value is better.
**Work:**
retail jobs are competitive here. I was worried coming from Dallas but the market is mixed. Salary-wise, expect about 10-15% less than coastal cities.
**Social Life:**
This was my biggest worry. First 16 months were tough. Then I found my people through a board game night. Now I have a solid group. Las Vegas people are warm once you break through.
**Day to Day:**
- Groceries: pricey
- Traffic: honestly terrible
- Dining out: amazing variety
- Entertainment: great if you like outdoor stuff
**Would I move here again?**
I keep discovering new spots even after {yr} years.. For young professionals, I'd give it a 6/10.

Not to be negative but the traffic has gotten unbearable. I still like living here overall though. Just keeping it real.

Parent of two in Arts District. Schools are underrated here. Grocery prices are creeping up but still manageable.. Would recommend visiting before deciding.

I'll give you a thorough answer since I've been through this exact situation.
I moved to The Lakes from Detroit about 11 years ago. Initially everything felt unfamiliar. But after settling in, Cost of living is {col_feel} compared to where I came from..
A few things I'd recommend:
- Check out The Lakes and Arts District for housing
- Join local Facebook/Reddit groups for your neighborhood
- Try the farmers market on Saturday mornings
The biggest adjustment was food scene. The {industry} scene here is really picking up.. Overall I'd give Las Vegas a 7/10 for singles.

Background: 23, newlywed, moved from Nashville 10 years ago for school. Currently in Southern Highlands.
**Housing:**
The market is solid right now. We went with Southern Highlands because the price was right. Paid /mo starting out, now at /mo. If I could do it again, I'd look at Anthem - it's quiet and the value is better.
**Work:**
legal jobs are growing here. I was worried coming from Nashville but the market is better than expected. Salary-wise, expect competitive for the cost of living.
**Social Life:**
This was my biggest worry. First 15 months were tough. Then I found my people through a church group. Now I have a solid group. Las Vegas people are reserved at first once you break through.
**Day to Day:**
- Groceries: about average
- Traffic: manageable if you avoid rush hour
- Dining out: better than you'd expect
- Entertainment: you make your own fun here
