Is Las Vegas a good place to live?

Curious what people think. Poverty rate is 10.5%, which is around average. It's a a major city city with about 651K people. Crime rate is something to consider — Las Vegas sits at 776.7 per 100K. Rent is about $1,456/month for a decent place. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Should I be concerned? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

I've lived in Downtown for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Austin, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good schools in most areas
- The food scene scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Property taxes are high
- Far from beaches/mountains

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for couples. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
