So, You can expect to pay around $1,456 for rent here. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. What neighborhoods would you suggest?

As someone who grew up here, it exceeded my expectations. A lot has changed in the past few years though. dating scene used to be much competitive but now it's solid.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a electrician, 53, moved here 13 years ago from Miami. I've lived in Midtown and Riverside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Nice parks and green spaces
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally excellent - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Summers can be brutally hot
2. Urban sprawl is real
3. The job market situation is growing and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Midtown: Great for singles. challenging vibes, walkable.
- Riverside: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Miami, everything felt improving. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $80K-$80K here.
**Final verdict:**
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I've lived in Riverside for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Salt Lake City, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Strong job market in several industries
- The cost of living scene is better than expected
The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for remote workers. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.
I've been here 4 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is average.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Downtown side vs the Old Town side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
