How is Lathrop for outdoor activities?

Hey folks, Just moved here 15 months ago and Rent is about $2,367/month for a decent place. Household incomes average around $118,605 in Lathrop. The median home value here is around $605,000, which is pretty steep. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Am I overthinking this? The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The city has invested a lot in new development. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Hot take but it's been a really good experience overall. I know a lot of people disagree but after 5 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Chicago about 11 years ago. The main reasons were weather and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good healthcare facilities
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Not a lot of cultural diversity

Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are established, gas is pretty good.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Good luck with whatever you decide..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are underrated, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
