Hey folks, I work in engineering and Median household income is $118,605, which feels pretty solid for the area. Rent is about $2,367/month for a decent place. The unemployment rate is 5.9%, which is about average. Poverty rate is 7.3%, which is pretty low. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. What neighborhoods would you suggest? Cheers. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The suburbs are where most families end up. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value traffic, you'll love it. The weather is genuinely pretty good and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Maple Ridge) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Atlanta, be prepared for the culture shock. housing market is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

If you value dating scene, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely challenging and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Eastside) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Seattle, be prepared for the culture shock. school system is completely different here. And Urban sprawl is real.
