Planning a move to Lauderdale-by-the-Sea -neighborhoods?

Born and raised here. Crime rate is something to consider -Lauderdale-by-the-Sea sits at 252.0 per 100K. Poverty rate is 2.3%, which is pretty low. It's a a small town city with about 6,159 people. The unemployment rate is 1.4%, which is pretty low. With a population of 6,159, Lauderdale-by-the-Sea is a small town. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The weather takes some getting used to. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The weather takes some getting used to. Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Phoenix about 3 years ago. The main reasons were school and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Good healthcare facilities
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are reasonable, gas is challenging.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Good luck with whatever you decide..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Portland and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Westside. It's pretty good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in construction. If you're in education you might struggle.

People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: decent. Tons of options if you like BBQ.

Definitely worth checking out..
