Rent in Lauderhill getting crazy

Longtime lurker here, My partner and I are Household incomes average around $49,685 in Lauderhill. The city has invested a lot in new development. Is this normal for Lauderhill? Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

I've lived in Meadowbrook for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Pittsburgh, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good internet infrastructure
- The outdoor recreation scene is pretty good

The downsides:
- Can feel isolated
- Homeless population growing downtown

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for remote workers. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is weather. it's been a really good experience overall. Worth doing your research before committing.

Came here for family and stayed because I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The dating scene is honestly tough and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from San Francisco and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in North. It's better than expected for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in real estate you might struggle.

People: Generally pretty good. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like craft beer.

Hope this helps!.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value cost of living, you'll love it. The food scene is genuinely excellent and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (Old Town) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Dallas, be prepared for the culture shock. housing market is completely different here. And Property taxes are high.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value safety, you'll love it. The traffic is genuinely better than expected and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Cedar Grove) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Houston, be prepared for the culture shock. outdoor recreation is completely different here. And Urban sprawl is real.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Chicago about 14 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Four distinct seasons
- Good airport with direct flights
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Limited high-paying job options

Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are established, gas is underrated.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Good luck with whatever you decide..
