Best neighborhoods in Laurel

First post here. Homes are going for about $367,300 on average. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Anyone in a similar situation? I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Hot take but I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. I know a lot of people disagree but after 3 years here, that's my honest assessment.

I've lived in East for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Portland, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Good internet infrastructure
- The cultural scene scene is tough

The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Limited shopping options

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for young professionals. Good luck with whatever you decide..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from San Diego and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Springfield. It's hit or miss for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in construction. If you're in government you might struggle.

People: Generally tough. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.

No regrets on my end..
