Housing in Laurel compared to Portland

Random thought, I work in retail and You can expect to pay around $1,878 for rent here. With a population of 29,594, Laurel is a smaller city. It's a a smaller city city with about 29,594 people. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. What are your go-to spots? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.
