Housing market in Laurel right now

Been meaning to ask this. With a population of 17,129, Laurel is a small town. The unemployment rate is 3.1%, which is pretty low. Poverty rate is 25.9%, which is higher than I expected. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Pros:
- Good job market
- Diverse community
- Active local events
- Good airport connections

Cons:
- Limited public transit
- Sprawl everywhere
- Few job opportunities in some fields
- Boring for young people
- Not enough green space
The weather takes some getting used to. The suburbs are where most families end up. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

I've lived in Meadowbrook for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from Portland, I was surprised by school system. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Close to major attractions
- The safety scene is decent

The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Dating scene is rough

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for families. Definitely worth checking out..

I've been living here for 14 years and I'd say I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The community vibe is average compared to other places I've lived. Overall Happy to answer more specific questions..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I genuinely enjoy living here. Internet is tough in most areas.
