Best kept secrets of Laurel, MT

OK so I'm single, late 50s, and The median home value here is around $232,700, which is actually reasonable. Average temperature is around 48--F, so expect cold winters. It's a a small town city with about 7,198 people. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The suburbs are where most families end up. Has anyone dealt with this? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The weather takes some getting used to. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Salt Lake City and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in North. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in construction you might struggle.

People: Generally excellent. It took about 14 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: improving. Tons of options if you like BBQ.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
