Cheapest neighborhoods in Lawrence?

The unemployment rate is 3.1%, which is pretty low. Average temperature is around 52--F, so expect cold winters. Homes are going for about $220,400 on average. It's a a smaller city city with about 49,284 people. The suburbs are where most families end up. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The weather takes some getting used to.

Pros:
- Good job market
- Good healthcare facilities
- Good internet infrastructure
- Plenty of shopping options

Cons:
- Rising rent prices
- Not very walkable
- Limited dining options
- Far from major airports
- Limited cultural events
What do you all think? The weather takes some getting used to. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The suburbs are where most families end up.

I'm a sales manager and I've found the quality of life is solid. The community is hit or miss and there's always something going on.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I have mixed feelings honestly. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Austin and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in East. It's tough for what you get.

Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in real estate. If you're in engineering you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is job market. it exceeded my expectations. Worth doing your research before committing.

Weather-wise, the summers are underrated and winters are affordable. You get used to it after the first year.

Moved here from Minneapolis about 1 years ago. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Still getting used to cost of living but Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. it's exactly what I was looking for. Compared to Salt Lake City it's surprisingly good.

We moved here with our family and it was the best decision I ever made. Schools in Greenfield area are decent. Kids love it here.
