Curious what people think. I'm single, late 30s, and Average temperature is around 52--F, so expect cold winters. Median household income is $73,455, which feels about average for the area. Rent is about $1,084/month for a decent place. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

My experience has been mostly positive. it was the best decision I ever made. The only thing I'd watch out for is housing market. Other than that, Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.
I've been here 9 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the outdoor recreation is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is improving.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Maple Ridge side vs the Downtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a lawyer, 47, moved here 1 years ago from Pittsburgh. I've lived in Greenfield and Cedar Grove, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Good healthcare facilities
3. Affordable housing options
4. The people are generally challenging - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Winters are long and cold
2. Not very walkable outside downtown
3. The school system situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Greenfield: Great for singles. challenging vibes, walkable.
- Cedar Grove: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Pittsburgh, everything felt decent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $50K-$130K here.
**Final verdict:**
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I've lived in Greenfield for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from Houston, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Lots of new development happening
- The food scene scene is tough
The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Limited entertainment options
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for couples. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.
I've been here 12 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is solid.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Springfield side vs the The Heights side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
