I'm retired and Average temperature is around 58--F, so the weather is moderate. You can expect to pay around $1,054 for rent here. The suburbs are where most families end up. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Anyone in a similar situation?

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Eastside for 5 years. Moved from LA for cost of living. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is pretty good. We bought in 2022 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.
**Employment:**
finance is strong here. real estate is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are affordable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
the quality of life is solid. The outdoor scene is decent - we have rivers within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Eastside schools are hit or miss. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Traffic during rush hour is rough. Bugs and humidity in summer. And cultural scene can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 6/10. No regrets on my end.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I've been living here for 1 years and I'd say I'm still on the fence after all this time. The school system is surprisingly good compared to other places I've lived. Overall Good luck with whatever you decide..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Nashville about 1 years ago. The main reasons were school and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Close to major attractions
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Limited entertainment options
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are reasonable, gas is average.
Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Hope this helps!.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from Minneapolis and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Highland. It's decent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in construction you might struggle.
People: Generally average. It took about 14 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: solid. Tons of options if you like sushi.
Hope this helps!.

Bought a house here in 2015 and it's been a really good experience overall. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

The food scene here is excellent. Tons of great Mexican places. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are decent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Weather-wise, the summers are challenging and winters are growing. You get used to it after the first year.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a contractor who relocated here from Minneapolis about 4 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Four distinct seasons
- Affordable housing options
Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Can feel isolated
Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are manageable, gas is improving.
Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
