Is it worth buying in Lawrence?

Hey folks, The unemployment rate is 3.6%, which is pretty low. Poverty rate is 6.1%, which is pretty low. The weather takes some getting used to. The city has invested a lot in new development.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from Miami and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in The Heights. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in government. If you're in government you might struggle.

People: Generally pretty good. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like sushi.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
