Lawrence is underrated, change my mind

I'm retired and Average temperature is around 58--F, so the weather is moderate. It's a a smaller city city with about 95,459 people. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. What are your go-to spots? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Weather-wise, the summers are challenging and winters are pricey. You get used to it after the first year.

Used to live on the Greenfield side, now on the Lakewood side. Completely different vibe. I love the pace of life here.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are improving, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is traffic. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Worth doing your research before committing.

Hot take but there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. I know a lot of people disagree but after 2 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a project manager who relocated here from Salt Lake City about 1 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good airport with direct flights
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Can feel isolated

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are competitive, gas is excellent.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.

I've been here 6 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is excellent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Pine Hills side vs the Highland side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

I've been here 7 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the pet-friendliness is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is underrated.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

We moved here with our family and I'm still on the fence after all this time. Schools in Oak Park area are underrated. Kids love it here.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I genuinely enjoy living here. Internet is average in most areas.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a nurse who relocated here from Phoenix about 11 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good healthcare facilities
- Strong job market in several industries

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Chain restaurants dominate

Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are reasonable, gas is excellent.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Feel free to reach out with questions..

I'm a accountant and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. The community is surprisingly good and there's always something going on.
