What's it really like living in Lawrence?

Alright, My partner and I are Homes are going for about $269,500 on average. Crime rate is something to consider -Lawrence sits at 134.6 per 100K. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Am I wrong here? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.

I've been here 8 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is tough.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Highland side vs the Pine Hills side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
