Rent prices in Lawrence getting crazy

Anyone else noticing rent going up fast in Lawrence? Over the last year, I feel like prices went up at least 10-15%. I'm paying $1569 for a 3BR which feels okay for the area.

Are there any neighborhoods that are still affordable? Thinking about moving to a cheaper area.

Rent tip: look for places in fall. Prices drop and there's more availability.

If you can afford it, Southside is the best place to live. Period.

Coming from San Francisco, the cost of living difference is noticeable. Groceries and gas are about the same.

I'd add that healthcare options are better than most cities this size. Otherwise spot on!

I've lived in University District for 13 years and it's decent, has its pros and cons.

Public transit needs work but they're investing in it. Should improve in next few years.

For families, I'd recommend looking at Downtown. Schools are rated well and it's quiet.

I work in logistics and finding a job wasn't hard. Took about 4 months.

As someone who moved here from Dallas, I can confirm most of this. The friendliness of people surprised me the most.

Great post! One thing I'd mention is the west side tends to be more affordable. Makes a big difference.
