Things that make Lawrence unique

First post here. I'm a remote worker and Average temperature is around 51--F, so expect cold winters. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Is this normal for Lawrence? People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

I've been living here for 4 years and I'd say I have mixed feelings honestly. The nightlife is better than expected compared to other places I've lived. Overall Definitely worth checking out..

The food scene here is underrated. Tons of great farm-to-table places. I have mixed feelings honestly.

I've lived in Sunset for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Seattle, I was surprised by school system. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The community vibe scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Limited entertainment options

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for remote workers. Happy to answer more specific questions..

As someone who grew up here, I'm still on the fence after all this time. A lot has changed in the past few years though. walkability used to be much reasonable but now it's tough.
