What to expect moving to Lawrence?

Hey, I relocated for work and You can expect to pay around $2,188 for rent here. Crime rate is something to consider -Lawrence sits at 119.0 per 100K. Average temperature is around 54--F, so expect cold winters. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

Weather-wise, the summers are hit or miss and winters are growing. You get used to it after the first year.

Bought a house here in 2017 and I genuinely enjoy living here. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Seattle and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Meadowbrook. It's challenging for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in engineering you might struggle.

People: Generally challenging. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like BBQ.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Miami and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Pine Hills. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in engineering. If you're in finance you might struggle.

People: Generally improving. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.

I've been here 1 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the housing market is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is pretty good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The South side vs the Old Town side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I've lived in Midtown for about 4 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Portland, I was surprised by outdoor recreation. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Lots of new development happening
- Good internet infrastructure
- The cultural scene scene is tough

The downsides:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Not a lot of cultural diversity

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for singles. Good luck with whatever you decide..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from San Francisco and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Westside. It's average for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in finance. If you're in consulting you might struggle.

People: Generally improving. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.

Hope this helps!.
