Moving from St. Louis to Lawrenceburg next month

I grew up here but left for a while. Rent is about $768/month for a decent place. It's a a small town city with about 11,732 people. Crime rate is something to consider -Lawrenceburg sits at 459.7 per 100K. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. I've lived in West for about 10 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Austin, I was surprised by healthcare. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Affordable housing options
- The cost of living scene is decent

The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Dating scene is rough

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for retirees. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

We moved here with our family and it's exactly what I was looking for. Schools in Meadowbrook area are average. Kids love it here.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value housing market, you'll love it. The cultural scene is genuinely tough and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (Greenfield) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from San Francisco, be prepared for the culture shock. weather is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've lived in Uptown for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Charlotte, I was surprised by school system. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Close to major attractions
- The dating scene scene is surprisingly good

The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Can feel isolated

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for remote workers. Happy to answer more specific questions..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a electrician, 33, moved here 5 years ago from Boston. I've lived in The Heights and North, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good schools in most areas
2. Decent public transit for the size
3. Affordable housing options
4. The people are generally solid - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Bugs and humidity in summer
3. The healthcare situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- The Heights: Great for remote workers. average vibes, walkable.
- North: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Boston, everything felt excellent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is growing. You can live comfortably on $70K-$100K here.

**Final verdict:**
Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from San Diego and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Maple Ridge. It's challenging for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in retail. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: solid. Tons of options if you like sushi.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
