Hi all, I'm retired and The median home value here is around $134,200, which is actually reasonable. It's a a smaller city city with about 90,662 people. Household incomes average around $53,588 in Lawton. The unemployment rate is 4.0%, which is pretty low. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Am I wrong here? Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Came here for quality of life and stayed because it's been a really good experience overall. The community vibe is honestly better than expected and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

We moved here with our family and it was the best decision I ever made. Schools in Meadowbrook area are average. Kids love it here.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. it's not perfect but it works for me. Compared to San Diego it's excellent.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are pretty good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.
I've been here 14 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is pretty good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Eastside side vs the The Heights side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
