Housing in Lawton compared to Seattle

Alright, I'm a teacher here and Household incomes average around $53,588 in Lawton. Average temperature is around 65--F, so the weather is moderate. Rent is about $935/month for a decent place. You can expect to pay around $935 for rent here. It's a a smaller city city with about 90,662 people. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Pros:
- Good job market
- Low crime in most areas
- Easy commute
- Strong sense of community

Cons:
- Cold winters
- Not very walkable
- Limited dining options
Thoughts? The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The weather takes some getting used to. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. I love the pace of life here. Compared to Houston it's better than expected.

I've been living here for 15 years and I'd say there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The community vibe is underrated compared to other places I've lived. Overall It's not for everyone but it works for us..

We moved here with our family and it's been a really good experience overall. Schools in Old Town area are decent. Kids love it here.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's not perfect but it works for me. Internet is surprisingly good in most areas.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a software engineer, 41, moved here 3 years ago from Chicago. I've lived in Westside and North, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Decent public transit for the size
3. Close to major attractions
4. The people are generally challenging - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Chain restaurants dominate
2. Can feel isolated
3. The housing market situation is manageable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Westside: Great for families. pretty good vibes, walkable.
- North: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Chicago, everything felt pretty good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is manageable. You can live comfortably on $70K-$90K here.

**Final verdict:**
It's not for everyone but it works for us.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Eastside for 1 years. Moved from Raleigh for cost of living. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is average. We bought in 2017 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.

**Employment:**
manufacturing is strong here. manufacturing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are established for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's improved dramatically in recent years. The outdoor scene is surprisingly good - we have mountains within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Eastside schools are excellent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited high-paying job options. Far from beaches/mountains. And job market can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 7/10. Feel free to reach out with questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.

I've been here 1 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Fairview side vs the Uptown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
