Anyone else feel this way? I'm retired and The median home value here is around $276,900, which seems about average. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a pharmacist, 37, moved here 8 years ago from Nashville. I've lived in North and Pine Hills, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Decent public transit for the size
2. Active local events and festivals
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally pretty good - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Traffic during rush hour is rough
2. Not a lot of cultural diversity
3. The food scene situation is growing and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- North: Great for singles. challenging vibes, walkable.
- Pine Hills: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Nashville, everything felt decent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $70K-$70K here.
**Final verdict:**
Good luck with whatever you decide.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Hot take but it's exactly what I was looking for. I know a lot of people disagree but after 7 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.
I've been here 1 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into running, this place is average.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Pine Hills side vs the Riverside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

I've been living here for 8 years and I'd say there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The outdoor recreation is solid compared to other places I've lived. Overall Good luck with whatever you decide..

We moved here with our family and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Schools in Midtown area are improving. Kids love it here.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value safety, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely improving and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Eastside) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Tampa, be prepared for the culture shock. walkability is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Compared to Pittsburgh it's solid.

I've been living here for 7 years and I'd say it's exactly what I was looking for. The nightlife is pretty good compared to other places I've lived. Overall Definitely worth checking out..
