How is Layton for outdoor activities?

Longtime lurker here, I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Homes are going for about $437,400 on average. Household incomes average around $99,188 in Layton. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Should I be concerned? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. I'm a accountant and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. The community is pretty good and there's always something going on.

The food scene here is hit or miss. Tons of great Southern places. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

As someone who grew up here, the quality of life is solid. A lot has changed in the past few years though. healthcare used to be much reasonable but now it's excellent.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a physical therapist, 26, moved here 12 years ago from Denver. I've lived in Cedar Grove and Sunset, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Nice parks and green spaces
3. Active local events and festivals
4. The people are generally improving - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Nightlife is limited
2. Dating scene is rough
3. The school system situation is wild and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Cedar Grove: Great for families. decent vibes, walkable.
- Sunset: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Denver, everything felt pretty good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is established. You can live comfortably on $60K-$130K here.

**Final verdict:**
Would recommend to anyone considering it.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Public transit is tough here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's exactly what I was looking for.
