Rent vs buy in Leander -what makes sense?
Anyone else feel this way? Worth the trade-offs?

As someone who grew up here, it was the best decision I ever made. A lot has changed in the past few years though. outdoor recreation used to be much manageable but now it's average.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Denver and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Greenfield. It's tough for what you get.
Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.
People: Generally decent. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like BBQ.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I'm a data analyst who relocated here from San Diego about 15 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and a fresh start.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Lots of new development happening
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Homeless population growing downtown
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are pricey, gas is decent.
Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Nice parks and green spaces
Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Can feel isolated
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are pricey, gas is solid.
Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
