I'm single, late 50s, and You can expect to pay around $1,135 for rent here. Crime rate is something to consider -Leavenworth sits at 688.5 per 100K. The suburbs are where most families end up. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Am I wrong here? The weather takes some getting used to. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

I've lived in Meadowbrook for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from Pittsburgh, I was surprised by community vibe. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- The public transit scene is average
The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for retirees. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Nashville about 15 years ago. The main reasons were weather and my partner's job.
Pros I've experienced:
- Active local events and festivals
- Good airport with direct flights
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Road conditions need improvement
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are pricey, gas is pretty good.
Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Hope this helps!.

- Far from beaches/mountains
