Hi all, I relocated for work and Crime rate is something to consider -Leawood sits at 54.2 per 100K. Median household income is $184,976, which feels pretty solid for the area. With a population of 33,844, Leawood is a smaller city. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Is this normal for Leawood? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.
I've been here 1 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is community vibe. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is solid.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Fairview side vs the Downtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a writer who relocated here from Pittsburgh about 2 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Decent public transit for the size
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Property taxes are high
Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are established, gas is challenging.
Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Feel free to reach out with questions..
