Why I chose Leawood over bigger cities

So, Been living here since 2007. Homes are going for about $620,400 on average. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Has anyone dealt with this? It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Houston and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in West. It's better than expected for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in engineering. If you're in engineering you might struggle.

People: Generally improving. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: solid. Tons of options if you like Mexican.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.

I've been here 9 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into running, this place is challenging.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Springfield side vs the South side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Definitely worth checking out..
