What's it really like living in Lebanon?
First post here. Just moved here 4 months ago and Homes are going for about $179,200 on average. The unemployment rate is 2.1%, which is pretty low. It's a a small town city with about 17,575 people. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The suburbs are where most families end up. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The city has invested a lot in new development.
Pros:
- Nice parks and trails
- Low taxes
- Lots of new development
- Active local events
Cons:
- Hot summers
- High property taxes
- Lack of diversity
- Limited cultural events
- Homelessness issues downtown
What would you do? Property taxes are high but you get good services. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The weather takes some getting used to. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The weather takes some getting used to.
