Is Lebanon getting better or worse?

Hello, My family moved here when I was a kid. It's a a small town city with about 6,364 people. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Came here for my partner's job and stayed because it's not perfect but it works for me. The housing market is honestly better than expected and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's exactly what I was looking for. The only thing I'd watch out for is housing market. Other than that, Definitely worth checking out..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a lawyer, 56, moved here 5 years ago from Houston. I've lived in Meadowbrook and Oak Park, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Nice parks and green spaces
2. Good internet infrastructure
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally challenging - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Traffic during rush hour is rough
2. Property taxes are high
3. The outdoor recreation situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Meadowbrook: Great for couples. improving vibes, walkable.
- Oak Park: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Houston, everything felt improving. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are wild. Gas is growing. You can live comfortably on $70K-$150K here.

**Final verdict:**
Feel free to reach out with questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Nashville and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in West. It's tough for what you get.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in consulting. If you're in consulting you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Southern.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I love the pace of life here. Internet is better than expected in most areas.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.

I've been here 14 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is job market. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is average.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The The Heights side vs the Cedar Grove side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Definitely worth checking out..
