Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value cultural scene, you'll love it. The cultural scene is genuinely pretty good and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (Sunset) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Minneapolis, be prepared for the culture shock. community vibe is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Internet is average in most areas.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a data analyst who relocated here from Denver about 1 years ago. The main reasons were weather and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good schools in most areas
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are growing, gas is solid.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.

I've been here 1 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is tough.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The East side vs the Sunset side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Hot take but it's exactly what I was looking for. I know a lot of people disagree but after 3 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a nurse who relocated here from Minneapolis about 7 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Limited shopping options

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are manageable, gas is average.

Socially, the quality of life is solid. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I've lived in Sunset for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Atlanta, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Good healthcare facilities
- The weather scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Limited high-paying job options

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for remote workers. No regrets on my end..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.

I've been here 3 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is community vibe. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is underrated.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Pine Hills side vs the Eastside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

No regrets on my end..
