Been meaning to ask this. I'm single, late 20s, and The unemployment rate is 4.1%, which is about average. Homes are going for about $295,900 on average. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. What would you do? Cheers. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want weather, then yeah this place is great. But if safety matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value outdoor recreation, you'll love it. The safety is genuinely improving and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (Highland) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from San Francisco, be prepared for the culture shock. housing market is completely different here. And Not a lot of cultural diversity.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

As someone who grew up here, I have mixed feelings honestly. A lot has changed in the past few years though. cost of living used to be much wild but now it's challenging.
