Alright, My partner and I are Homes are going for about $143,200 on average. Average temperature is around 52--F, so expect cold winters. The median home value here is around $143,200, which is actually reasonable. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The suburbs are where most families end up. Am I wrong here? Thanks in advance! I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The city has invested a lot in new development. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The weather takes some getting used to. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value public transit, you'll love it. The walkability is genuinely underrated and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. My neighborhood (South) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from New York, be prepared for the culture shock. walkability is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is pet-friendliness. it's been a really good experience overall. Worth doing your research before committing.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, the quality of life is solid. Hope this helps!.
