Living in LeChee -the reality

Not sure if this has been asked before, but I'm a remote worker and The median home value here is around $92,600, which is actually reasonable. With a population of 1,307, LeChee is a small town. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. I've been in Downtown for 12 years. Moved from Phoenix for retirement. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is improving. We bought in 2017 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.

**Employment:**
manufacturing is strong here. government is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are reasonable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it was the best decision I ever made. The outdoor scene is pretty good - we have national forests within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Downtown schools are solid. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Dating scene is rough. Far from beaches/mountains. And nightlife can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value housing market, you'll love it. The community vibe is genuinely solid and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Sunset) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Denver, be prepared for the culture shock. cost of living is completely different here. And Chain restaurants dominate.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've lived in The Heights for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Denver, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Strong job market in several industries
- The school system scene is challenging

The downsides:
- Dating scene is rough
- Homeless population growing downtown
