Weather-wise, the summers are improving and winters are competitive. You get used to it after the first year.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a social worker who relocated here from Phoenix about 9 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Four distinct seasons
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are reasonable, gas is challenging.
Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Definitely worth checking out..

Hot take but I love the pace of life here. I know a lot of people disagree but after 6 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Public transit is excellent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I have mixed feelings honestly.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in North for 9 years. Moved from Chicago for cost of living. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is decent. We bought in 2020 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.
**Employment:**
consulting is strong here. construction is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are reasonable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it's been a really good experience overall. The outdoor scene is challenging - we have mountains within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. North schools are hit or miss. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Can feel isolated. Bugs and humidity in summer. And school system can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 7/10. No regrets on my end.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Charlotte and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in South. It's underrated for what you get.
Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in real estate. If you're in finance you might struggle.
People: Generally challenging. It took about 14 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: solid. Tons of options if you like BBQ.
Hope this helps!.

I've lived in Cedar Grove for about 10 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Miami, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- The pet-friendliness scene is decent
The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Limited entertainment options
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for singles. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
