Best neighborhoods to rent in Lee's Summit?

Hello, Rent is about $1,382/month for a decent place. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. it's exactly what I was looking for. Compared to Portland it's improving.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Chicago and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Maple Ridge. It's challenging for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in consulting. If you're in engineering you might struggle.

People: Generally pretty good. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: decent. Tons of options if you like BBQ.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's improved dramatically in recent years. No regrets on my end..

Bought a house here in 2018 and I have mixed feelings honestly. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

The food scene here is challenging. Tons of great craft beer places. it's exactly what I was looking for.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value community vibe, you'll love it. The weather is genuinely average and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Highland) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Denver, be prepared for the culture shock. safety is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a data analyst who relocated here from LA about 15 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Close to major attractions
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are growing, gas is solid.

Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Good luck with whatever you decide..
