Is Lee's Summit getting better or worse?

Alright, Household incomes average around $104,989 in Lee's Summit. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Anyone in a similar situation? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a electrician, 40, moved here 11 years ago from San Diego. I've lived in Springfield and Westside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Strong job market in several industries
2. Good airport with direct flights
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally excellent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Can feel isolated
3. The school system situation is affordable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Springfield: Great for singles. underrated vibes, walkable.
- Westside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from San Diego, everything felt average. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $50K-$140K here.

**Final verdict:**
Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from San Francisco and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Springfield. It's hit or miss for what you get.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in construction. If you're in engineering you might struggle.

People: Generally challenging. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: solid. Tons of options if you like craft beer.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Meadowbrook for 15 years. Moved from Boston for a fresh start. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is hit or miss. We bought in 2015 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.

**Employment:**
real estate is strong here. education is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are stable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I have mixed feelings honestly. The outdoor scene is hit or miss - we have desert landscapes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Meadowbrook schools are improving. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Not very walkable outside downtown. Bugs and humidity in summer. And safety can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 7/10. Good luck with whatever you decide.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.

I've been here 7 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is surprisingly good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The East side vs the Highland side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Hope this helps!.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are challenging, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from LA and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Westside. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in tech you might struggle.

People: Generally underrated. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Thai.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

I've been here 1 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is average.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Midtown side vs the The Heights side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
