Should I move to Lee's Summit or stay in Las Vegas?

OK so I'm single, late 20s, and Rent is about $1,382/month for a decent place. The median home value here is around $313,200, which seems about average. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Thoughts? Cheers. The city has invested a lot in new development. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value job market, you'll love it. The dating scene is genuinely average and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (Riverside) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Tampa, be prepared for the culture shock. job market is completely different here. And Chain restaurants dominate.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a software engineer, 52, moved here 14 years ago from Atlanta. I've lived in Highland and Riverside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good schools in most areas
2. Decent public transit for the size
3. Active local events and festivals
4. The people are generally decent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Urban sprawl is real
2. Can feel isolated
3. The cultural scene situation is manageable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Highland: Great for young professionals. surprisingly good vibes, walkable.
- Riverside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Atlanta, everything felt pretty good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is manageable. You can live comfortably on $100K-$120K here.

**Final verdict:**
Happy to answer more specific questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Weather-wise, the summers are excellent and winters are growing. You get used to it after the first year.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Hope this helps!.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.

I've been here 9 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the outdoor recreation is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is average.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Midtown side vs the North side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Definitely worth checking out..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.

I've been here 3 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the healthcare is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is surprisingly good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The East side vs the Meadowbrook side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

I've lived in Downtown for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from New York, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Decent public transit for the size
- The community vibe scene is underrated

The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Dating scene is rough

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for retirees. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
