Freelancing from Leesburg -experience?

Anyone else feel this way? I grew up here but left for a while. The unemployment rate is 4.3%, which is about average. The median home value here is around $214,300, which is actually reasonable. With a population of 28,461, Leesburg is a smaller city. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The suburbs are where most families end up. Thanks in advance! OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a software engineer, 33, moved here 4 years ago from Pittsburgh. I've lived in Uptown and Sunset, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Close to major attractions
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally excellent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Nightlife is limited
2. Not very walkable outside downtown
3. The nightlife situation is growing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Uptown: Great for retirees. excellent vibes, walkable.
- Sunset: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Pittsburgh, everything felt underrated. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are stable. Gas is developing. You can live comfortably on $90K-$70K here.

2. Road conditions need improvement
3. The cultural scene situation is wild and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Highland: Great for young professionals. solid vibes, walkable.
- The Heights: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Housing:**
The market right now is better than expected. We bought in 2018 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.

**Employment:**
marketing is strong here. engineering is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are stable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I have mixed feelings honestly. The outdoor scene is tough - we have state parks within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Oak Park schools are excellent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

I've lived in Meadowbrook for about 6 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Pittsburgh, I was surprised by cultural scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Strong job market in several industries
- The weather scene is tough

The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Nightlife is limited

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for couples. Definitely worth checking out..
