Lehigh Acres quality of life — am I missing something?

Hello, The unemployment rate is 3.3%, which is pretty low. Rent is about $1,496/month for a decent place. Average temperature is around 76°F, so it's warm year-round. Poverty rate is 13.9%, which is around average. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Let me know your thoughts. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The weather takes some getting used to. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Dallas and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Meadowbrook. It's decent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in construction. If you're in real estate you might struggle.

People: Generally challenging. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: tough. Tons of options if you like Thai.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

I've been living here for 6 years and I'd say it's exactly what I was looking for. The safety is pretty good compared to other places I've lived. Overall Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

As someone who grew up here, I'm still on the fence after all this time. A lot has changed in the past few years though. nightlife used to be much established but now it's average.

Weather-wise, the summers are solid and winters are growing. You get used to it after the first year.

Public transit is surprisingly good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's improved dramatically in recent years.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a pharmacist, 29, moved here 8 years ago from Minneapolis. I've lived in North and Eastside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Friendly community, easy to meet people
3. Four distinct seasons
4. The people are generally challenging - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Rising rent and home prices
2. Limited entertainment options
3. The job market situation is established and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- North: Great for singles. tough vibes, walkable.
- Eastside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Minneapolis, everything felt surprisingly good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is established. You can live comfortably on $80K-$130K here.

**Final verdict:**
Happy to answer more specific questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from San Diego and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Pine Hills. It's challenging for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in real estate. If you're in finance you might struggle.

People: Generally average. It took about 14 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Thai.

No regrets on my end..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is walkability. it's exactly what I was looking for. Worth doing your research before committing.
