Lehigh Acres vs Omaha — which is better?

Anyone else feel this way? I grew up here but left for a while. What are your go-to spots?

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a HR manager, 44, moved here 11 years ago from Raleigh. I've lived in Westside and Riverside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Four distinct seasons
2. Good airport with direct flights
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally hit or miss - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Not very walkable outside downtown
2. Not a lot of cultural diversity
3. The community vibe situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Westside: Great for young professionals. better than expected vibes, walkable.
- Riverside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Raleigh, everything felt hit or miss. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $60K-$130K here.

**Final verdict:**
Feel free to reach out with questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want cultural scene, then yeah this place is great. But if community vibe matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Came here for retirement and stayed because I'm still on the fence after all this time. The cost of living is honestly tough and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. I have mixed feelings honestly. Compared to Portland it's solid.

Bought a house here in 2018 and I love the pace of life here. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Internet is underrated in most areas.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a social worker who relocated here from Phoenix about 13 years ago. The main reasons were work and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Active local events and festivals

Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Road conditions need improvement

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are established, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, it exceeded my expectations. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I work in engineering here and it's exactly what I was looking for. The job market for my field is surprisingly good. No regrets on my end..
