Leitchfield quality of life -am I missing something?
Hey everyone, I'm originally from St. Louis and You can expect to pay around $588 for rent here. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

I work in manufacturing here and it's not perfect but it works for me. The job market for my field is average. No regrets on my end..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Boston about 3 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and my partner's job.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Decent public transit for the size
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Limited entertainment options
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are affordable, gas is challenging.
Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a nurse, 54, moved here 11 years ago from Denver. I've lived in Fairview and Springfield, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Nice parks and green spaces
3. Good airport with direct flights
4. The people are generally excellent - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Summers can be brutally hot
2. Homeless population growing downtown
3. The walkability situation is growing and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Fairview: Great for families. excellent vibes, walkable.
- Springfield: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Denver, everything felt decent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are stable. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $40K-$90K here.
**Final verdict:**
Happy to answer more specific questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Baltimore and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Midtown. It's surprisingly good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in government you might struggle.
People: Generally better than expected. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Indian.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Hot take but it exceeded my expectations. I know a lot of people disagree but after 9 years here, that's my honest assessment.
