Longtime lurker here, I'm a 41-year-old real estate agent and Poverty rate is 4.3%, which is pretty low. Household incomes average around $88,576 in Leland. It's a a smaller city city with about 26,307 people. The unemployment rate is 2.5%, which is pretty low. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. What do you all think? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The weather takes some getting used to. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The weather takes some getting used to. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value traffic, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely underrated and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Oak Park) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Chicago, be prepared for the culture shock. outdoor recreation is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want pet-friendliness, then yeah this place is great. But if pet-friendliness matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
